Students will choose out of four activity choices to show their knowledge of Romeo and Juliet and their ability to use evidence from the text to support a claim.
If your students are not ready to write a full essay, or you are looking to make writing with textual evidence more fun and relatable for students, this is the right activity for you!
Activities Included:
- Hexagonal Thinking: Students will use pre-made hexagons with topics and characters listed to make connections from the play. Then they will choose 5 connections to explain their reasoning behind the connection.
- Theme Analysis One-Pager: Students will choose one of two given themes and create a one-pager using evidence from the text to support the theme. There are several elements for students to include on their page.
- Wedding Playlist: Students will create an 8-song playlist for Romeo and Juliet's wedding. Each song should represent a stage in their relationship, and they will explain why they chose each song.
- Putting Friar Lawrence on Trial: Students will choose to either prosecute or defend Friar Lawrence while he's on trial for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. They will write an opening statement, provide 3 pieces of evidence, and provide a closing statement.
